Directed by Matrix Executive Director and Beckett scholar, Dr. Shaun Nethercott

Featuring actress Stephanie Nichols, appearing by special agreement with Actors’ Equity Association. Winnie is an eternal optimist who makes the most of each new day in spite of being partially buried in a mound of sand.  The literal and the symbolic make for an evening of highly provocative theatre.

Matrix Theatre’s annual thriller is written, designed, produced, and performed by the youth of Detroit.  Every year is a fresh new version of horrifying theatrical fun where anything can happen!


December 4 – 20, 2009

Dickens “A Christmas Carol” comes to southwestDetroit, with Scrooge as an Auntie who runs a check cashing store on Michigan Avenue.  The spirits of Christmas past, present, and future include original Matrix puppets that will open everyone’s heart to the joys of the holiday season.


March 12 – 28, 2010

Matrix’s newest original work reflects the stories, voices, and emotions of the modern immigrant experience in Detroit.  The spring premiere is created in partnership with Detroit area high shool students.
