ACTING/PLAYWRITING

Showcase Performance is December 7

This class will help young artists to strengthen and hone performance skills, and give them the tools to transform a play from an idea to a production. In addition to learning basic theatre vocabulary, students will be exploring characterization, voice and movement, and improvisation. The class will bring all these skills together in their own original play for the Matrix Educational Showcase.

PUPPETRY


Miguel and his Mask!Recycled Dream Puppetry

Classes are every Saturday, 10.00 a.m. – 12.00 p.m.

Showcase Performance is December 7

In this puppetry class, students will dream up a new world based on the use, or non-use, of recycling efforts. Puppets will vary in size from palm-sized to larger-than-life. The techniques introduced will include collage, appliqué, sculpting, tissue paper molas, shadow puppets, paper-mache, and beading. Their final works will be highlighted at the at the Matrix Educational Showcase.

The BeesVisual Arts for the Theatre

Classes are every Friday, 3.30 p.m. – 5.30 p.m.

Showcase Performance is December 7

This all-ages class will allow students of all skill levels to participate in the creation of props, costumes, and backdrops for Matrix student productions. Artists in this class will learn paper-mache, sewing, painting, stage makeup design and application, costume design, and set design. This will be a wonderful introduction to the elements of technical theatre, and a unique opportunity for older Matrix students to begin to mentor the next generation. Don’t miss it!
